Welcome to the National University of Galway, Sport and Recreation Unit Webpage

NUI Galway recognises the relationship between academic performance, health and wellbeing and in support of this the Sport and Recreation Unit has a mission to promote participation in sport and physical activities by all students and staff and to support higher standards of performance in sport and physical activity for elite sports individuals and teams within NUI Galway.

Get Involved: Check out the sports clubs and recreational programmes – through these you will make new friends and learn life long skills.

We will help: Our team of staff is situated in the Sports Complex which is located in the heart of the campus by the Quincentennial Bridge – please do drop in to see us and get involved! The university supports elite athletes and provides an excellent Sports Scholarship Scheme. Check it out here.

Checkout the Facilities: The University boasts a state of the art Sports Complex and  we also have fabulous external facilities for athletics and team sports.

It is through your active participation in the sports clubs and recreational programmes that you will indeed make new friends and learn life long skills.
